IMD Health Global is pleased to announce an important new collaboration with the ALS Society of Canada (ALS Canada). This relationship will be invaluable to helping IMD Health in their commitment to providing easily accessible, up-to-date digital health education to healthcare providers, patients and their families on the IMD platform.
“Empowering Canadians affected by ALS to be informed consumers of ALS information is an important part of our mission,” said Tammy Moore, CEO, ALS Canada. “We are pleased to be working with IMD Health Global to ensure more people have access to the information they need when it comes to making decisions about their health and advocating for themselves and the community.”
IMD’s health education platform is one of the largest in North America, offering healthcare providers and patients instant access to graphics, videos and other educational resources spanning 6,000+ health topics. These resources facilitate meaningful dialogue between healthcare professionals and patients inside the examination room, at hospital bedsides and pharmacies, and during virtual consultations.
“We are very excited to be collaborating with ALS Canada in order to provide our clinicians, patients and their families with trusted information on amyotrophic lateral sclerosis,” said Alice Haidau, Medical Content Manager, IMD, citing the need for inclusive, evidence-based health information, particularly given the shift toward digital tools incited by the pandemic, and internet use which often leads to misinformation.
ALS Canada’s resources are now freely available on IMD Health. This means that IMD’s established healthcare provider network can send ALS patients home with resource packages containing trusted information on disease understanding, symptom management, sexual health, support & services, youth support, caregiver support, associated conditions, research, and advocacy. Resources also include professional tools for Health Care Professionals learning.
About ALS and the ALS Society of Canada
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is an unrelenting and currently terminal disease. It progressively paralyzes people because the brain is no longer able to communicate with the muscles of the body that we are typically able to move at will. Over time, as the muscles of the body break down, someone living with ALS will lose the ability to walk, talk, eat, swallow, and eventually breathe. More than 3,000 Canadians live with ALS and approximately 1,000 Canadians are diagnosed each year. Four out of five people living with ALS will die within two to five years of their diagnosis.
The ALS Society of Canada is working to change what it means to live with ALS. Grounded in and informed by the Canadian ALS community, we respond to the urgent unmet need for life-changing treatments by investing in high-quality research that will fuel scientific discovery and by engaging industry, supporting increased clinical capacity, and advocating for equitable, affordable, and timely access to proven therapies.
Responding to the tremendous need for current and credible ALS knowledge, awareness, and education, we empower Canadians affected by ALS to navigate the current realities of ALS, be informed consumers of ALS information, and advocate effectively for change. In Ontario, we provide direct community services to help people navigate ALS.
Founded in 1977, we are a registered charity that receives no core government funding – our work is powered by generous donors who share our vision of a future without ALS.

IMD Health Global is a Toronto-based eHealth software development company, focused on innovating healthcare education. Since 2010, IMD has grown into Canada’s largest digital patient engagement platform. Centred “At The Point of Care” ®, healthcare professionals use IMD’s cloud-based platform (in clinic or virtual consults) to engage with their patients at a deeper level and optimize knowledge transfer surrounding a patient’s condition and treatment plan.
