The TMJ Association and IMD Health Global announce strategic partnership to provide credible disease information resources into the hands of care providers, their patients and family members
November 30, 2021 – Milwaukee, Wisconsin
The TMJ Association is pleased to announce an important new partnership with IMD Health Global (IMD), a CloudMD Software & Services company focused on digital health education, which will help provide patients suffering from temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders with accessible, easily comprehensible resources via the IMD platform.
“Over 35 million Americans have TMJ, characterized by pain in the jaw region and jaw dysfunction. However, recent research finds TMJ to be a complex, poorly understood set of conditions involving multiple body systems. Given the impact of TMJ on health and well-being, the 2020 National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine report on TMJ urges the medical, nursing and other health professional schools to provide the information that health care professionals need on TMJ. The recommendations strongly suggest that siloed treatments for TMJ must be reconceived from the current, dental-focused approach, to a multidisciplinary, interprofessional team approach involving specialists within the broader medical community. We are privileged to partner with IMD in disseminating current scientific information on TMJ disorders to both patients and their health care providers,” said The TMJ Association co-founder and president, Terrie Cowley.
IMD Health is the leading digital patient education platform, containing content on over 5,600 medical topics (anatomy, conditions, and procedures) in a simple-to-use format. With over 110,000 patient-friendly resources including articles, images, infographics, and videos, IMD provides an interactive platform that allow healthcare practitioners and patients to meaningfully engage with educational health content.
“We are thrilled to collaborate with The TMJ Association to provide healthcare providers and patients with credible resources, particularly for such prevalent conditions,” said Blaise O’Malley, Medical Content Manager, IMD Health. “Given that TMJ disorders are often poorly understood, it is especially important that we provide patients with accurate and comprehensive educational content regarding their condition. By partnering with The TMJ Association, we are now able to do so.”
